Amex dining credit: common questions

Which restaurants take the Amex dining credit?

Only the restaurants on American Express’s own lists, which this site puts on one map: 3,762 restaurants across 18 countries on the Platinum Global Dining Credit and Amex’s other dining programmes, plus 10,907 more US restaurants on the Resy credit. Choose your card in the filters to see the ones it covers, then check the restaurant in the Amex app before you book.

Can I use my Amex dining credit abroad?

Yes. The Global Dining Credit works at participating restaurants in every country on the list, not only in the one that issued your card. Some cards set part of it aside for dining abroad: a UK Platinum Card’s £400/yr is £100 per half (local) + £100 per half (abroad), and an Australian card’s A$400/yr is A$200 local + A$200 abroad dining credit. A US-issued Platinum Card is the exception: it has no Global Dining Credit, and its Resy statement credit applies only at qualifying U.S. restaurants on Resy and Tock.

How much dining credit does an Amex Platinum Card give?

It depends on the market that issued the card, not on where you eat: £400/yr on a UK card, A$400/yr on an Australian one, HK$2,000/yr in Hong Kong and CA$200/yr in Canada, among others. The About page has every market’s amount. A US-issued card has no Global Dining Credit; its dining benefit is the Resy credit: $100 per quarter at 10,000+ qualifying U.S. restaurants on Resy and Tock.

Where can I use the Amex Resy credit?

At qualifying U.S. restaurants on Resy and Tock. It comes with US-issued cards: the Platinum Card (up to $100 a quarter, $400 a year) and the Gold Card (up to $100 a year). To use it, enrol the credit in your Amex account, then pay the bill with that card. 11,550 of those restaurants are on this map: choose a US card in the filters to see them.

How often is the restaurant list updated?

Every week. Restaurants join and leave the Amex programmes all the time, so the list is rebuilt from each programme’s own list once a week; it was last updated on 25 October 2026. The What’s new page lists each week’s additions and removals.

Is this the official American Express restaurant list?

No. Amex Dining Explorer is an independent, unofficial site, not affiliated with American Express. It puts the restaurants on Amex’s dining programmes on one map, but Amex’s own list is the final word: check a restaurant in the Amex app or on the official American Express website before you book.
